The property is very beautiful and is set in beautiful scenery – there are panoramic views! We would return in a heart beat! Top tip – the last bit of the journey to the villa is a little steep – it may be worth hiring a 4×4 though our Renault Megane handled it okay. No neighbours and stunning villages close by and there is a Coop in Fabro so all super easy to buy food etc.

A  piece of heaven with panoramic views

Our stay at Casa le Crete was so much more than we expected.  We had just finished a tour of Rome with all its beauty and excitement and we were looking for our final stay in Italy to be one of tranquility and reflection.  This is exactly what we experienced!  The drive up the country roads of Ficulle to Casa le Crete was our first indication that we were about to experience something special.  Casa le Crete, with its’ 360 degree panoramic views of the beautiful hillsides of Umbria, is like a piece of heaven! The spacious apartment is perfect and charmingly appointed with everything we needed to make our stay  enjoyable. Our visit included exploring the towns of Ficulle, Fabro and Orvieto, meeting local artisans and enjoying specially prepared meals at some of the local restaurants.  We even took part in a “Sagra” in Fabro, a special event in town, where we met neighbors, sampled delicious regional cuisine and danced to an Italian rock band…..what a treat!  Yet our favorite time was relaxing on the hammock, listening to the wind in the pines and serenaded by the sound of the crickets and the tranquil tingle of the wind chimes….Paradiso!

We loved the ten days we spent at Casa LaCrete at the end of May, beginning of June 2018. The villa is extremely comfortable and appointed with everything you need to enjoy a relaxing holiday. With so many beautiful choices for outside dining or just enjoying a glass of wine, we sometimes could not decide whether to sit by the pool, under the trees, at the outside bistro table, or one of the two shaded porticos. You have a view of the magnificent Umbrian countryside regardless of your choice. The caretaker, Stefano, is a delightful man and was always immediately responsive if we had any questions. This villa is private and secluded which was exactly what we wanted. There were two grocery stores within a short drive (Coop and Eurospin) and we found everything we needed to fix our own meals when we did not want to leave the villa. For most of our day trips, we drove the rental car, but there is a train station in Fabro Scalo with plenty of parking. We took the train to Orvieto one day and it was quite convenient. There are so many places to eat, but a couple of our favorites were Tuscany Divine in Chiusi (we loved the tasting menu for lunch) and La Pigra Tinca in Castiglione de Lago where we dined outside overlooking Lake Trasimeno. Probably our favorite event was a wine tour/tasting with lunch at Pomario Vineyard in Piegaro. You must make a reservation, but we highly recommend it. Thank you, Lisa, for being such a pleasure to work with, all your helpful suggestions, and accommodating us at Casa LaCrete!

If you are in favour of a peaceful holidays, this is the place to be. A very good and quiet accommodation in the centre of Umbria, located on a mountain top so you have a stunning view of the surroundings. We liked the accommodation, the pool, the view you can enjoy from early morning till sunset. And many thanks to Stefano who was ready to answer all our questions!.

My husband and I have traveled domestically in the U.S. and in Europe for 42 years. This year we spent a week in Umbria at Casa Le Crete, and we both agree this was one of our top 3 vacations ever. Casa Le Crete is a renovated Umbrian farmhouse, lovingly restored by its newest owners, Lisa and Arturo. The house sits atop an Umbrian hill surrounded by olive trees and vineyards. A 360 degree view is spectacular and can be enjoyed poolside, under a stand of pines, from the bocce ball court, from the terrace outside the kitchen, or from either of the covered living spaces outside the rental unit. Because we were there in October, we missed the vines heavy with grapes and the fragrance of the rose garden; however, the light of the day and that golden hour experienced each evening made me wish I had an artist’s brush in my hand (and knew how to use it). The accommodations were excellent; plenty of bathrooms, a full kitchen with large refrigerator, dishwasher, and a washing machine available to do some light laundry. WiFi and TV were available, but honestly, we had better things to do! We spent each day in exploration of a new hill town and experienced delicious wines, cheeses, olives, pastas, and meats—andiamo a pranzo! And we became brave souls and rented a car, driving about like we knew what we were doing and where we were going! We were able to hire a chef who gave us an extended cooking lesson at the house. What a treat! Casa Le Crete is situated just far enough out of town to feel as if you were in a peace-filled retreat, but not so far away that you can’t visit a local market, a bank, a festival, a pottery shop, or any number of breath-taking cathedrals and churches. Can’t wait to return.

A Beautiful Place in Umbria

Beautiful rooms, wonderful views, multiple bathrooms and close to Florence. Surrounding towns and small villages give you the feel of Italy and the wonderful food and hospitality they provide. We stayed for two weeks but wished we had more time to enjoy the peaceful and magnificent of this country estate. The pool is right outside your door and the outdoor grill is nearby. The elegant but tasteful interior of the house is an extra bonus. We look forward to our return to this gem.

What an amazing stay at Casa Le Crete! From the breathtaking views of Umbria and Tuscany to the spacious yet cozy accommodations, my husband and I spent 5 relaxing days in the fall at the Villa. Perched on a hill 10 minutes by car from Fabro Scala and Ficulle, the farmhouse features charming rustic Italian decor, spotless linens and towels and a fully equipped kitchen (with dishwasher!). WiFi and TV were readily available although we rarely needed it as we spent most of our time walking through the vineyards that surround the house, taking day trips to nearby cities (ex: Orvieto – 20 mins away by car), playing bocce ball on the brand new court or sitting on the terrace enjoying the sunset and sipping local wines. Casa Le Crete is truly a very special place and we can’t wait to go back again soon!
