This year we returned to Italy earlier than usual. That meant cooler temperatures and more wood burning fires in the evenings. However, the briskness in the air did not stop us from hosting family and friends and sharing the unveiling of our 2016 wine. Even though it will benefit from two additional months in the bottle, it was still ready for sharing and enjoying.
Prior to leaving for Italy we began designing our label. Nothing fancy, simply a picture of the front of the house produced by Vistaprint.
Nevertheless, it was enough to make us proud of our labors. Sitting in the kitchen in the glow of early evening, it was satisfying to take pictures of Arturo labeling the bottles.
It is amazing that over 100 bottles of wine can be produced from only 50 vines. We are ‘no-nothings’ when it comes to wine production, and even though the area abounds in vineyards that are readily for sale, we are not likely to sign on for more. We have no aspirations of becoming vintners, but only to produce (and drink) wine from the vines that are already producing on our land.
E’ abbastanza per noi. (It’s enough for us).
“L’acqua fa male e il vino fa cantare.”
Italian proverb (Water is bad for you and wine makes you sing.)
